The Delhi Tourism department is set to organise its first-ever three-day Bougainvillea Flower Show at the Garden of Five Senses in Said-Ul-Ajaib, Saket from April 14 to 16, 2023.

This event will showcase different varieties of Bougainvillea flowers, including Bougainvillea Bonsai plants and Garden tray-based plants, making it a must-visit destination for tourists and locals alike.

According to Geetika Sharma, General Manager of Delhi Tourism, this flower show is a significant step forward in making Delhi a tourist destination. “We organise various fairs and festivals to promote tourism in the capital, and this Bougainvillea Flower Show is one of our many efforts to increase the number of tourists visiting Delhi,” she said.

Sharma further emphasised that Bougainvillea is a tropical tufted flowering vine suitable for Delhi’s climate, and its beauty can enhance the roadsides, buildings, and unused sites of Delhi. With no special soil requirements, Bougainvillea can thrive in Delhi’s harsh summer climate and bloom throughout the year.

She suggested that rocky sites in Delhi could be covered with Bougainvillea flowers, enhancing the value of the capital as a tourist attraction.

To promote the Bougainvillea Flower Show and attract visitors, Delhi Tourism is actively promoting the event on its website and OTT platforms, said Sharma.

The event has already generated interest from several government agencies, including Delhi Development Authority (DDA), Central Public Works Department (CPWD), NDMC, MCD, University of Delhi, Netaji Subhash University and Delhi PWD, who are likely to participate in the Bougainvillea flower show.

Apart from Bougainvillea, fruit and vegetable plants will also be on display, making it a perfect opportunity for tourists and locals to experience the culture and beauty of Delhi.

And with the event happening on the weekend, this is an ideal time for tourists to plan a trip to Delhi and be a part of the celebration.
