Today marks the inauguration of Rajasthan‘s first Vande Bharat Express, a semi-high-speed passenger train that will significantly improve the state’s connectivity to major tourist destinations. The train will be flagged off by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at 11 am via video conferencing.
The Ajmer-Delhi Cantt Vande Bharat Express will be the world’s first semi-high-speed passenger train on high-rise overhead electric territory. The train will operate between Ajmer and Delhi Cantt. and will have stops at Jaipur, Alwar, and Gurgaon.
The new Vande Bharat train will provide faster travel times for tourists to visit Rajasthan’s most popular tourist sites, including Pushkar, Ajmer Sharif Dargah, and more. This improved connectivity will also provide a boost to the socio-economic development of the region.
According to the official PMO statement, the Vande Bharat Express will cover the distance between Delhi Cantt. and Ajmer in just 5 hours 15 minutes, faster than the present fastest train on the same route, the Shatabdi Express, which takes 6 hours 15 minutes from Delhi Cantt to Ajmer.Furthermore, student winners from a quiz competition, showcasing their love for Vande Bharat, will also be on board the Ajmer-New Delhi Vande Bharat Express on its inaugural run. These students were selected from 550 participants in quiz, drawing, and essay competitions held in Rajasthan.
The launch of Rajasthan’s first Vande Bharat Express comes on heels with Telangana’s Vande Bharat launch. The idea is for tourists to enjoy faster and more convenient travel to explore the state’s rich cultural and historical heritage.
